Gulmohar Character.

Deconstructing existing reference can be a great way to create something entirely new. In this case i have taken a Gulmohar flower as a starting point and have deconstructed it into shapes, texture and colour with respect to its ratios.

Playing and experimenting with those shapes, gave rise to multiple character options, out of which i chose to go with the one that fit the brief and feedback, something that felt cute and approachable.

Once there was a clarity of idea, i went ahead and cleaned it up and broke it into simpler forms and drew topology on top to better understand forms.

using this as a starting point, i started modelling it out in blender and did a quick blocking pass.

Luna

I have always been amazed by how they modify the basic luna to their hearts content in the area that i live in. so had to give it a shot and make my version of the vehicle in 3d illustration

clicking a photo of the luna and breaking it down into simpler forms to model. planning and deconstructing the reference is a big part of my personal approach. i like to simplify my models

Rickshaw

My fascination with local public transport and 3d sketches continue with an auto rickshaw. in this particular instance, i ended up using stock images from the internet which were more flat and in profile views as reference.

Kali Peeli

making local transport made me a lil nostalgic and i just had to make a taxi from mumbai streets. the very lovely kali peeli. so many emotions.

Taking food into fantasy space with Vada Paav

this was part of peachtober with a word prompt GRUB. i had made daily 3d illustrated characters for an entire month. quick tests to figure out a pipeline that worked. this one is a rather spicy vada pav with chili fumes filling up the space.

Bommai Mask

Its considered as good luck to hang a bommai mask along with an ash gourd in the place that i live. Created a 3d tabletop concept sketch based on that.
